Jun 19th, 2010 by Dipak Sarda

Apple iphone 4 3 Mobile

Lot many factors are to be taken into consideration while buying an iPhone 4. It all depends on whether you opt to pay less for the handset and more on monthly contract or shell out more on the iPhone and less monthly.

With three major network carriers viz. Vodafone, Orange and O2 unveiling their tariff plans, now 3 is geared up to throw its hat into the ring. The smallest of UK’s mobile carriers, 3 UK is the last one to announce its tariffs for the iPhone 4 as it wants to compete the best with its rivals in terms of package and cost.

3 UK is said to be in direct talks with Apple in order to offer the best and cheapest tariffs to its UK customers. It is following a similar trick which it played to introduce the iPad package earlier with a monthly package of 10GB for just £15.

It was even reported earlier that iPhone smartphones were being offered surreptitiously to some 3 UK customers so that they don’t switch to other networks. However, 3 is currently inviting parties so as to register their interest on 3 UK website. The interesting thing is that the most expensive current 3 UK tariff of £30 a month happens to be less than the cheapest iPhone 4 contract on the market.

Nokia smartphones to feature NFC from 2011
Jun 18th, 2010 by Dipak Sarda

Nokia_Medium

The Finnish phone giant, Nokia made an announcement that all new Nokia smartphones will feature built-in NFC technology from 2011. As such, Nokia becomes the first major manufacturer who commits to build NFC into its handsets.

As per Nokia’s VP for markets, every smartphone being released will have an NFC component that supports MicroSD security and Single Wire Protocol (SWP) as well as a Nokia secure model.

NFC (Near Field Communications) is a short range communication standard with low-power which integrates a contactless chip with a contactless reader and puts them into a phone. The intention is to operate a mobile phone as an electronic wallet. The handset with NFC will allow you to do interesting things even with the remote control of home electronics and Bluetooth pairing-by-tap.

Despite the fact that Nokia has vast intellectual property in NFC and that it has spent enormous money to convince telecom operators, NFC does not yet seem to get going.

However, Nokia is geared up to go with the NFC as a single player by putting it into every smartphone coming next year regardless of anyone else bothering of NFC. Nokia’s idea behind this is that once substantial handsets come with NFC, the technology will get wide spread and Nokia will be a market leader of technology again before Apple puts NFC into an iPhone.

It’s going to be Android all the way from INQ
Jun 13th, 2010 by Andy Miles

Android_logo INQ Logo

Mobile equipment manufacturer, INQ has made clear its plans about scrapping its operating system, Brew and going all out for a line-up of Android phones.

INQ has decided to move away from Qualcomm’s operating system to join the league of players like HTC, Motorola, LG, Sony Ericsson, and Samsung and offer Google’s Android OS based devices. INQ has been famous for manufacturing socially aware handsets all the while.

INQ is gearing up to move away from the value market to the Smartphone market. And as it does so, it wishes to replicate the success that Motorola achieved last year by launching its Android based social networking phones, Motoblur and Cliq. Motorola could get back on track after launching Android based handsets last year.

Despite the fact that INQ might not garner the same attention that HTC or Sony Ericsson command, it could sell 1.5 million of the INQ Chatting gadgets which is no less an achievement.

For INQ the switch from Qualcomm to Android makes all the more sense as it gears up to notch more of the market share from the current leaders. This move would mean that more of Qualcomm developers might jump on to the Android bandwagon.
