HTC might be working on a Windows 7 handset which features two LED flashes and a path-breaking 16MP camera.
PocketNow has posted a video which raises the above question. There is no information provided about the source of the ad or the name of the handset or its specs however. The handset looks similar to HTC Desire S along with some Windows 7 buttons pasted over it.
If this could turn out to be true, we will get to a 16 MP camera and that would beat the current record holder Altek A4 Leo which has a 14MP snapper. Moreover, if the handset helps you take pictures in a perfect fashion as claimed in the video, you can get away with the digital camera that occupies your pocket space.
As opined by most camera reviewers, it is not a tough thing to get more megapixels and it does not necessarily result in better pictures; however more megapixels would surely mean more noise if the sensor is too small.
LED flashes on the other hand might also not be the best way to throw light on dimly lit objects. There are hence other mobile phone makers trying to work more on other aspects than the megapixels. Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc as an example comes with just 8.1 MP camera but the Exmore R CMOS sensor helps you take some breathtaking shots in dim light from a mobile phone.
The long wait for the pearly white iPhone 4 was over last night as Three showed up a deal for the device on its website. However, the page was taken down soon after.
Earlier the launch of the white iPhone 4 was delayed due to various reasons. One of which was the pesky white paint due to which Apple faced iPhone manufacturing problems. However, now you will get a sigh of relief that the much awaited device would be available for sale very soon.
Three UK listed the 32GB white iPhone 4 on a £35 contract with a delivery date of April 20 by offering 5,000 texts and 2,000 minutes with the deal. Though the handset’s upfront cost is £159, it comes with an Apple Bumper generally flogged for £26.
However, the deal was not really available for the customers to buy at the time Three listed the White iPhone 4 live on its site. Moreover, Three is not willing to unlock its lips at this moment to provide any further details regarding the white handset’s actual release date and any other deals.
All in all, if you are still looking forward to lay your hands on the stunning White iPhone 4, your long wait is expected to end soon.
It is time to rejoice for all the Samsung Galaxy S owners as the rollout of Gingerbread ( Android 2.3 ) has been confirmed for users in the UK. However the catch is that your service provider should be Vodafone as it is the only network which confirmed the Galaxy S 2.3 update till date.
Let’s take a sneak peek at what’s in store though you might not be on Vodafone. To us, it seems that a lot of performance issues might get fixed with the updates.
The UI will turn slicker and simpler, while the new Android keyboard will help with ease of copy/paste functionality. There would be better management of power and multiple cameras too. You can switch the handset back to GSM only (2G) mode with this update.
But, hold on because it is not enough to keep waiting for your phone to get updated; it would rather be a better idea to connect it to Samsung KIES on the computer to check the eligibility.
So, we need to wait and assess the Samsung Galaxy S2 as it promises faster response. better battery life, ease of typing and the like.

The update fixes problems on both the iPhone and iPad which include a bug that occurred when using Facetime which led to a blank screen or a frozen image while in a video call.
Another issue where some international users had problem connecting to 3G networks has been fixed too. Other fixes in the update are related to security and it makes the gadgets all the more robust against hijack attempts.
We are not clear as to whether iOS 4 will get any new features; however iOS 5 is expected to come with new features and we can expect something on those lines in June at the Apple Developer Conference.
Taiwanese giant, Acer is all set to join the burgeoning Tablet PC market where we have seen announcements from bigwigs as well as smaller players joining the fray. Acer tablets will face a formidable challenge as they plan to enter the crowded tablet market to compete with Apple iPad, Samsung Galaxy Tab, Dell Streak and Next tablet.
The interesting fact is that the Acer Iconia tablets which were unveiled on March 26th have already been made available from Dixons. As per the Dixons’ website, both the W500 and A500 are presently in stock and can be owned for £450 with no additional delivery charges.
As of now, for each Acer tablet only one unit of stock has been opted by Dixons rather than listing the 3G version of the tablet. You will be more surprised to know that two-small screen tablets viz. the Acer Iconia A100 and A101 along with the Acer Iconia laptop are not listed on Dixons’ site in spite of being announced at the MWC.
Of all five Acer products that have been mentioned, the Acer Iconia TAB W500 which is powered by an AMD C-50 dual core processor is the most amazing one. It also comes with the option of adding a keyboard so as to change it to a notebook as well as includes Windows 7 Home Premuim.
Coming to the Iconia TAB A100, it comes with the same price tag as that of the Samsung Galaxy Tab Wi-Fi version.
A leak indicates that the HTC Sensation will sport the HTC Sense 3.0 software and this could actually be a great news to many of those who have purchased one or the other recent HTC SmarPhone in the market.
HTC Pyramid which is named as HTC Sensation in the UK is slated to be the first phone to sport HTC Sense 3.0 software when the Android powered SmartPhone will get launched exclusively through Vodfone this May and by other mobile operators sometime in June.
As per an article on AndroidPolice, it seems that hackers have already been able to crack the Sense 3.0 UI and that they have got ways to get some elements of that onto existing phones. All this has become possible because of the leak of a pre-release build of HTC Sensation software through a Chinese forum or a mirror.
Unlike Google Android, HTC Sense 3.0 is not open source software and hence it is not clear at the moment if the hackers will be porting all the features onto existing phones or not. The leak has provided insights about the UI of the upcoming HTC phones.
The gaming phone from Sony Ericsson, Xperia Play is now being offered by Three network though it does not seem cheap.
The handset is available for £35 per month on a 2 year contract and comes with 5000 texts, 500 minutes and 1GB data usage. However, you would have to shell out another £99 upfront for the handset and that means a bigger hole in your pocket.
In summary, the TCO (total cost of ownership) would be £939 and that sounds quite an expensive deal for a gaming phone compared to the handhelds. The handset is a SmartPhone as well but it has no 3D gaming.
Another plan available is the One Plan deal where the monthly tariff would be £40 but you would still have to pay £49 upfront. The package however gets a lot more in 2000 minutes, 5000 texts, and unlimited data usage.
With a sequel to Sony PSP on the cards later this year, the Xperia Play has an uphill task to stay on and win the battle against other such gaming gadgets. How it fares is something we all need to wait and watch.

An announcement from HTC noted that the first tablet from its mantle will go off the shelf on May 9th in the UK. The gadget being touted as a rival for the Apple iPad2 is HTC Flyer.
Clove, Amazon and Carphone Warehouse have all been open to take pre-orders for the first Android slate from HTC. Though the cost of the 7 inch tablet is expected to hover around £600, the actual price will be set by the retailers.
The new tablet has been described as “compact with a seven-inch display, ultra-light, lightning fast thanks to a 1.5 GHz processor and high-speed HSPA wireless capabilities”. There is also a note taking app and the HTC watch service so that you can access movies anytime anywhere.
There are comparisons being done already for the Flyer with Apple iPad2. The Flyer has got a slim white aluminium case and so it looks just like the Apple iPad 2; however the 7-inch Flyer is quite smaller compared to the 9.7 inch iPad 2.
The Flyer thus might be the best thing to play games or watch videos whereas the iPad 2 can be better for use around the house. Powered by Google’s Android, the Flyer uses a customized version of the OS which was originally designed for SmartPhones.
This could also mean that the latest apps being built for Android tablets might not run on this tablet until it gets a software update. We need to watch out how people welcome this new gadget.
Here comes an exciting news for all the UK customers who have been desperate about the availability of Streak 7 tablet. You can now lay your hands on the 7-inch tablet from Dell whose price starts at £299.

Streak 7 will also come with a 5MP camera on the rear to take higher quality snaps along with a lower resolution 1.3MP camera on the front to support video calling. The tablet will be running on Android 2.2 Froyo. However, it cannot enjoy the benefits of Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
Currently, the tablet can be grabbed from Dell’s site in the UK. Dell Stage user interface and app management has been bundled by Dell. Moreover, Dell is also aimed at adding syncing capabilities to Stage so as to share entertainment data.
The Streak 7 for the Vanilla flavour can be owned at £299 from Dell. However, users looking for the updated and 3G and Wi-Fi versions will have to wait till spring.
According to a tweet from the company, HTC has confirmed that Sense 3.0 won’t be available on older devices.
HTC has confirmed, albeit through a tweet, that Sense 3.0 would not be available on older HTC devices. This is a huge blow since Sense 3.0 is the updated version of the Sense UI that is omnipresent on all HTC Android phones.
The news isn’t a big shock or a surprise since the company didn’t seem overly positive about the port being possible. This was out for every to see, as late as last week, during the launch of HTC Sensation.
However, what adds fuel to fire is the fact that this message was conveyed not through any official statement but through a tweet.
The tweet goes, “Due to Sense’s hardware requirements, only our newest devices (Flyer, Evo 3D, Sensation) will be able to support it.”
This would mean that if you’ve just picked up an HTC Desire S or HTC Incredible S, you missed the bus! Because, even before you started getting used to it, it’s already out of date!
Not everything is lost though! There still is a minute chance that these handsets may get some elements of Sense 3.0. It remains to be seen if these elements include 3D overlay for home screens, the new lock display or the new visual widgets. Stay tuned to our updates!
Samsung Galaxy S 2 would be hitting the UK market this month itself – way ahead of the earlier schedule. This seems to be a way of Samsung to garner better attention and corner market share.

Further to this, the Samsung Galaxy S 2 will be hitting the other markets across the globe. It isn’t sure when other markets would be seeing the device, which makes it interesting to see which country gains the handset first.
Samsung mobile has also come up with the statement that there will be an update on their Facebook page. The release date announcements for regional releases of the Samsung Galaxy S 2 would also be available on this page. This would mean that an eye on the Samsung facebook would be a real opener to the news!
Of course, we would keep you updated on the things as they unfold. So keep hitting the hub as we unravel the action!

HTC has announced plans to overtake iPhone vis-à-vis its release of Sensation as against iPhone5
Trying to make it ahead of iPhone, HTC Sensation would be released before the iphone5. Formerly known as the Pyramid, Sensation would hit the UK market in May, before the rumored iPhone 5 launch date of June 2011.
Sensation, which has hit our radar since the start of February this year has been announced. The important features that grace the smart phone are the Qualcomm MSM8260, a system on chip clocking 1.2 GHz.
The Sensation also has a 768 MB RAM , a microSD card reader with around 4GB onboard storage (1.1 GB free storage) and comes with a 4.3 inch display with Gorilla Glass. This display gives Sensation 540×960 pixels similar to that of HTC Desire HD.
Augmenting the features is an 8 MP camera that can shoot full HD videos with full surround sound. This sound goes up to 30FPS plus a front facing VGA camera. Also included is a nifty video trimmer tool that allows cropping of clips to the perfect size.
The details haven’t yet been published on the HTC website but it surely is on the way to rock the market.
It has become so common for mobile phone manufacturers to launch a new handset every fortnight or month so that they could mint money faster given the appetite of people towards new handsets and exciting features. Though a lot of players are in the fray, one brand that stands apart with its class, looks, usability, quality and pricing is Nokia.
Nokia has come with two new premium smartphones viz. the X7 and E6 along with the Symbian Anna OS, an update to its Symbian OS. The Nokia X7 is a full touchscreen handset offering gaming and entertainment while the E6 is focused at business users. Symbian update is aimed at offering appealing looks and higher speeds.
It is anticipated that Nokia will ship 150m Symbian based devices so as to change to Microsoft’s Windows Phone platform by the year end. With this new update Anna, users will be able to experience a faster web browser, update to Ovi Maps, improved security features and so on.
The Nokia X7 smartphone sports a 4” touchscreen and is loaded with the games Asphalt 5 and Galaxy on Fire. The handset also features a stainless steel and glass design, an 8MP camera along with recording, 720p playback and editing capabilities.

The handset which is focused at corporate users also features browser access to Microsoft Sharepoint, Mail for Exchange, business grade security, Word and Excel documents via Quick Office along with the ability to both read and edit Powerpoint.
Not simply this. Nokia’s Ovi Store is now said to include 40,000 apps by serving 5m downloads a day. Some older handsets along with the N8, E7 and C7 are also said to receive the Symbian Anna update.
Smarter than a smartphone and turning the tables on the tablets, Galaxy S II is set to hit the markets
Taking a cue from the competition and trying not be left behind, Samsung has announced the roll out of its latest device. The Galaxy S II smartphone would be available from May 1st in the UK.
This comes in the wake of the news report in February that the phone would be available as early as 31st March from www.play.com. The date, later, changed to 6th May. And of course, there is the added benefit – reduction of price by £100 to £499.99, SIM free.
The competitor site clove.co.uk put the handset at £528 on pre-order, but not on any specific date. The news just quotes that the first stock is expected during May. Trying to match the price of play.com, another website Expansys.com has also reduced its price from a massive £629.99
The Galaxy S II is the latest addition to the ultra-popular Galaxy S family. Slimmer, lighter and faster, Galaxy S II is a mere 8.49mm thick, weighs only 116g and has a huge 4.27-inch Super AMOLED Plus touchscreen.
The device comes pre-loaded with the latest Google operating system – Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Also bungled are a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and 1GB of RAM. And of course adding value is an 8MP camera capable of recording HD 1080p video.
The best features of Galaxy S II make it worth the wait. Keep glued to this space!
Springing a surprise, Asus has quietly come up with its release of the source code of Android Honeycomb. This is the driving force behind Asus’ Eee Pad Transformer device, which also goes by the name TF101.
The source code which comes at nearly 98MB is labeled version V8.2.2.6. There are a couple of download options – direct or the user-friendly torrent. It must be remembered that Google had released the Software Development Kit (SDK) on the 22nd February but has since gone back on the release of the source code.
The Asus EEE Pad transformer has already hit the market in the UK for as little as £361 from Comet.
The device comes with a 10-inch IPS touch screen display with a one-mega pixel resolution. Spicing up the device are the Nvidia Tegra 2 system on chip clocked at 1GHz, 512MB RAM, 16GB onboard storage, HDMI, USB, Wi-Fi. Needless to say, it runs on Android Honeycomb!
What really adds value to the device is the fact that you can add a docking station. This comes at as cheap as £50 and helps convert it into a fully fledged laptop. This would also add in two USB ports and an additional battery that doubles the battery life of the device.
Asus is one of the most potential rivals to the iPad2 with the cheapest model costing £399. Without wasting much ado, it must be said that iPad2 has some competition. We, at the hub, would keep things closer to you.
