Jul 31st, 2011 by Dipak Sarda

BlackBerry messenger 6

Canadian manufacturer of BlackBerrys, Research in Motion released BlackBerry Messenger 6, which will be coming with ‘BBM connected’ apps support. That is, this service can be integrated into BlackBerry apps thereby allowing users to chat with one another.

The new version 6.0 brings loads of exciting features to the delight of the users. Users can now initiate BBM chats with friends from within an application. For example, a BBM connected game app will allow users to invite their friends and play a game while chatting with them in real-time, without leaving the app.

According to Alistair Mitchell, VP, BBM Platform & Integrated Services at RIM, BBM 6 is said be the beginning of much better social experience for BlackBerry smartphone users.

With the new BlackBerry Messenger 6, users will be allowed to send message directly from within an application so as to share a BBM connected app with their friends. You will also be able to have BBM chats from an app as well as find out new apps from your friends list of apps on their BBM profiles.

A new BlackBerry handset is yet to be released by RIM. However, the company has come up with the release of its new app.

Jul 29th, 2011 by Dipak Sarda

Google Maps 5.8 update

Here comes a new feature to the Google Maps Android service in the form of 5.8 version update. Google made an announcement about the update on its official mobile blog.

The updated flavour which is free is aimed at adding functionality to Places and Latitude. Users are now allowed to upload a photo for any location as well as manage the recently viewed places or the starred ones.

Users can now know more about a place in a glance, thanks to My Places which offers descriptive terms. As such, now you can avoid the lengthy times of browsing the websites.

The last addition which the 5.8 update brings is the ‘on-the-go’ check-ins. This allows you to ‘Add place’ by just clicking it. After confirming your name and location, it gets added and then you will be automatically checked-in. Your new location will not appear on Google Maps and Google Places. However, other users can check-in from Latitude.

The most important addition is the London Underground tool. With this tool, you will be guided as to which is the best way to reach your destination. This service can be enjoyed by iOS, Android and BlackBerry handset users.

Jul 29th, 2011 by Dipak Sarda

Samsung Mobile Logo White Galaxy S2

It has just been three months that the Samsung Galaxy S2 has hit the stands and the white version of the handset is already on its way. Don’t keep your mouth open in awe; it is indeed going to be available from 1st September in the UK.

The white Samsung Galaxy S2 has been promised this September by the Korean mobile phone major and the pics on the internet support that.

Clove, an online retailer posted 15th August as the launch date for the ivory edition of Samsung Galaxy S2 but that date will have to be pushed by a few weeks.

Having already clocked up 5 million units in sales even before the US launch, the Galaxy S2 has nothing left to prove; however the white version will have its own speciality and we need to see how it does.

The white version is no different from the black one in terms of software or hardware.

The Galaxy S II is slimmer, lighter and faster. It is a mere 8.49mm thick, weighs only 116g and has a huge 4.27-inch Super AMOLED Plus touchscreen.

The device comes pre-loaded with the latest Google operating system – Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Also bungled are a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and 1GB of RAM. And of course adding value is an 8MP camera capable of recording HD 1080p video.

To top these all, the SE Mix handset has Karaoke so that you can sing in your own voice while the lyrics get displayed to you. This is like having a Karaoke machine in your pocket which lowers the actual vocals’ volume to a pre-set limit.

Google Talk, Twitter, Wi-Fi, Touch UI, Facebook, FM Radio, a 3.2 MP camera and a 3’’ touchscreen are some other important things which make the Sony Ericsson a nice handset. Pricing or dates have not been disclosed for this handset which is due in Q3.

Amazon Inc. leaked few more pictures of Motorola Droid Bionic which indicates that the handset will soon be available for the grabs to purchase on its website.

It was in January that the Droid Bionic was introduced at the CES (Consumer Electronics Show). The handset is expected to hit the UK market in August which can also be anticipated from the pictures released on its official website.

Now grab the Google Nexus S Smartphone for just £285.65
Jul 23rd, 2011 by Dipak Sarda

Google_LOGO Google Nexus S

The Gingerbread powered Samsung Google Nexus S Smartphone was launched last year with a price tag of £549 which was criticised then for being so expensive. Thanks to Prepaymania which is now offering the smartphone for nearly half the price at £285.65 including free delivery.

As such customers who placed their hands on the device eight months ago by shelling out full price will be disappointed to know this. Moreover, prices of better devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S2 have also come down in the past few weeks.

Powered by a 1GHz Samsung Hummingbird processor, the Samsung-made handset features a 4-inch WVGA AMOLED touchscreen, 16GB memory on-board, 512MB RAM, a VGA front facing camera, a 5MP rear model coupled with an LED flash, HD video recording and autofocus. It also packs with it Android 2.3 Gingerbread, a USB port, GPS, Wi-Fi embedded NFC technology along with an amazing curved design.

Having no microSD card slot does not go down well though and it means that you cannot keep all the junk that you would love to keep on the device as the memory cannot be upgraded. One more drawback with the handset is the absence of an FM radio.
All in all, the Nexus S is definitely an amazing device, especially at this price.

Windows 7 Smartphone from Fujitsu
Jul 22nd, 2011 by Dipak Sarda

Fujitsu Windows7

Now, we will have a Smartphone which can emulate a Windows 7 PC from Fujitsu as it announced its F-07C handset.

And let’s understand that we are not talking about Windows Phone 7 in this case. This handset is a Windows 7 capable PC in the guise of a Smartphone. It can be termed as one of the ambitious handsets with the power of the Intel Atom processor.

With a 1.2GHz Intel Atom Z600 processor and a 1GB LPDDR400 memory, this handset runs a full Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit OS. The handset can run any standard program that a Windows PC is capable of, thanks to the x86 processor in the F-07C.

IE9 comes in-built in addition to Adobe Flash, Silverlight plugins and a 2 year license for MS Office 2010. The handset has a 4-inch display with 1024 x 600 LCD display with the QWERTY keypad and a trackball hidden under the slide.

There is a USB port so that any compatible peripheral device can be attached to the handset while HDMI allows it to be easily used as a TV or another monitor. All of this in a device with 218g as weight including the battery is awesome though it will need charging after just 2 hours of usage as PC.

Samsung Galaxy R, an alternative to cheaper iPhone 5
Jul 21st, 2011 by Dipak Sarda

Samsung Galaxy R

Samsung has officially unveiled its new handset the Galaxy R yesterday which seems to be similar to the Galaxy Z, revealed some time back. However, the company will not offer Galaxy Z in the UK.

The Samsung Galaxy R is a cheaper version of the Galaxy S2 which is set to be positioned as an alternative to more affordable version of the iPhone 5.

The Galaxy R comes with a screen bigger than the Galaxy S and smaller than the Galaxy S2. However, all the three handsets come with WVGA resolution. Also, the R is thicker and slightly heavier due to the metallic back.

It features a 5-megapixel rear camera coupled with HD video recording capabilities and a front facing camera of 1.3-megapixel for video conferencing. It is also anticipated that the Galaxy R will be powered by the Nvidia Tegra 2 SoC rather than the Samsung Exynos 4210.

The handset will also pack onboard storage of 8GB, Wi-Fi, a microSD card reader as well as Samsung’s own user interface alongside Android Gingerbread. Users can control the Galaxy R remotely using a new feature called Kies Air.

The Galaxy R is expected to be released by the end of July with a price tag ranging between the Galaxy S and the S2, probably around £350.
