This week, the BlackBerry World showcased the BlackBerry PlayBook and the demo points to the possibility that the tablet PC could turn 3D.

The acquisition of The Astonishing Tribe (TAT) seems to have ringed in the third dimension. TAT are renowned for their creative development and after its acquisition, RIM seems keen to leverage on the 3D buzz.

3D widgets, games and a 3D Rubik’s cube are some of the things demoed by TAT.

RIM sought to play down the development to an extent but the fact that 3D glasses were provided to the 6000 people present at the presentation is noteworthy. The 3D content on PlayBook was projected onto big screens and the audience used 3D glasses to savour the same.

TAT announced that the 3D capabilities can be provided as soon as they get a nod claiming that the dual-core processor was good enough to handle 3D images.

The presentation also showcased a native email client, Android apps for PlayBook and that Bing will be integrated into it in future.
