Taiwanese handset major, HTC confirmed that all of its Desire models and Incredible S would receive Gingerbread updates when they are rolled out as downloads in the second quarter.

Desire, Desire Z, Desire HD, and Incredible S are included in the array of handsets which would receive Android 2.3 aka Gingerbread. The news will be welcomed by everyone having a Desire phone because the device has been getting obsolete pretty fast due to newer versions getting available.

Incredible S, the only Smartphone launched by HTC at the Mobile World Congress was shipped with Android 2.2 also called as Froyo. People owning this handset will hence welcome the upgrade to Gingerbread with open arms.

Gingerbread is boasted to bring a slicker, faster and more responsive interface by Google. New features include near field communication which can turn your handset into a credit card, support for gyroscope sensor, a new soft keypad with a text selection tool, and better copy paste functionality. You can as well indulge in internet calling by using VoIP.

Google’s Nexus One and  Nexus S Smartphones manufactured by HTC are also being updated to Gingerbread.
