Motorola Xoom

Motorola Xoom, trying to rival iPad2 has left no stone unturned in its quest! This is the first ever tablet that has been built on Android 3.0 platform otherwise called as Honeycomb and was considered to be the most powerful threat to the iPad till date. Interestingly, this OS has been exclusively designed for Tablet devices.

Motorola is said to ship over 250,000 Xoom tablets as per the Q1 financial results of this fiscal year. However, reports indicate that the company has incurred net loss for the same period. Though exact figure of the Xoom devices sold is not known, the number is said to be as few 15,000 according to reports.

Contrary to this, Apple was elated to announce its Q2 financial results of the fiscal year ended in March 2011 which indicates that it has sold 4.7 million iPads during this period.

iPad 2 has an upper hand on the Xoom in terms of hardware as well as software applications. It is very simple for iOS developers to deliver bug-free apps for the iPad when compared to delivering the Android applications for the Xoom tablet. As such, users are going more with iPad rather than Motorola Xoom.
