Here comes an exciting news for all the UK customers who have been desperate about the availability of update to Dell Streak. The much hyped Android 2.1 upgrade to Dell Streak will now be out from O2 on September 1st.
The 5-inch Dell Streak Tablet-cum-Smartphone was released in the UK in June on O2’s airwaves with Google’s Android 1.6 OS. O2 UK is now all set to roll out the software update to Streak customers on September 1st. However, the device will be upgraded only to Eclair (Android 2.1) with this. To get the Froyo (Android 2.2) update, users will have to wait for some more time.
The Dell Streak is equipped with a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash having a front and back lens, a 5-inch 800×480 pixel screen and multitouch functions. The handset which is powered by 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor comes with an in built Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity along with 2GB of data storage and 30-pin docking connector.
O2 software update will bring an array of features including keyboard improvements, 720p HD video recording, multitouch gesture support and live wallpapers. Unfortunately, US customers are unlikely to get the Android 2.1 update and need to wait until later part of this year for the availability of Android 2.2.
