June 5th, 2011 by Dipak Sarda

HTC ChaCha

HTC ChaCha or ‘Facebook phone’ encompasses all the core elements of today’s smartphones and provides those extra features that keep it afloat. The handset has already hit the store shelves on 2nd of June from Phones 4u.

The ChaCha gets upgraded and it now comes with a portrait oriented keyboard, a Qualcomm SoC processor running at 800MHz rather than at 600MHz speed thereby, providing 33 per cent improvement for a better user experience.

However, the rest of the handset’s features are the same. The handset still boasts a smaller 2.6-inch HVGA capacitive touchscreen and a smaller 1250mAh battery. It comes with 512MB RAM, 512MB ROM, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, a microSD card reader, a QWERTY keyboard, a 5MP rear camera coupled with flash as well as a front facing VGA camera. The smartphone which runs on Android 2.3 with HTC Sense UI also comes with a Facebook button.

Vodafone along with other major carriers have announced to offer the HTC ChaCha. Interestingly, the handset has also received its first over the air update that will be building the new build number to 1.18.401.1. HTC, however has not revealed any details regarding the improvements bundled with the update.

The ChaCha which is said to be available at £250 SIM Free will prove to be one of the cheapest Android Smartphones sporting full QWERTY keyboard.
