Windows Phone Mango

Microsoft made its Windows Phone Mango platform available to manufacturers yesterday. The software giant made an official announcement on a blog that it signed off an RTM (Release to Manufacturing) version of its Windows Phone platform named as Mango.

What this means is that mobile phone manufacturers can start development and testing of their apps for the OS.

Around 500 new features are bundled into the Mango apart from the IE9 browser, enriched mail app, and better social networking and IM functionalities.

The new OS is going to be provided to existing customers as an update while all new handsets are expected to sport the WP Mango by the end of this year.

There are manufacturers like Samsung, Fujitsu, ZTE, LG, HTC, and Acer who are actively developing handsets on the Mango platform and we need to keep our fingers crossed till the time when people provide feedback on the Mango.
