The Stereophonics, Mumford & Sons, The Courteeners, Ellie Goulding and Keane are some of the important artists who have been put together for this campaign by Sony Ericsson. Playlists from these artists would be put together for Spotify based on their recent travels.

The playlists have been created inspired by their travels – for example the Stereophonics created a playlist with inspiration drawn from travels in their tour bus to Glasgow from NewCastle.

Spotify, the streaming music service will be provided by 3 on the Sony Ericsson Vivaz.

The Sony Ericsson Vivaz has got an 8.1MP camera and it is surely going to be a hit with YouTube freaks, thanks to its HD video recording capability, an 8GB memory card and ease in uploading videos. Sony Ericsson has provided a 3.5 mm headphone jack and a MicroUSB port with the Vivaz.

Ergonomic design, social networking features including in-built Twitter and Facebook applications, focus on multimedia, and GPS support are some of the important features of the handset. FM Radio and TrackID features are a plus.

And 3 has just made it look all the more attractive by making it a mobile with media providing access to six million tracks by Spotify. 3 believes that the users can get the best experience from Smartphones like Vivaz when they leverage their network which is designed for mobile internet.

Vivaz can be connected using HSDPA and Wi-Fi. The users who choose the Vivaz handset with 3 get to make free skype calls and unlimited instant messaging by using Windows Live. And to add more to it, 3 is on Twitter promotion all through March where it is providing the tweets for free.

For those who want to pay one shot, the Vivaz will burn a £330 hole in the pocket and it will come for a £35 per month charge for a 2 year contract.

Wireless carrier 3 UK is reportedly getting ready for the launch of a number of no less than six handsets powered by Google’s Android operating system, the latest news around the web suggests. It seems that the operator is set to enhance its offering of handsets powered by Google’s mobile operating system, something that other carriers also seem interested in.

Just like every other operator is buoyed up to offer Android based phones, 3 UK seems busy enhancing its Android platform offerings. No less than six handsets powered by Google’s flagship Android OS are reportedly being decked up for launch by 3 UK.

A 3 UK executive reportedly emphasized that 3 UK was focussed on Android as theme for the ongoing year. 3 UK seems confident that Android can help it boost its sales and that is the reason behind more Android-based phones being offered in the near future. HTC Hero is the only Android powered phone in 3’s kitty as of now.

3 inks a deal with Warner TV

Customers of 3 mobile will soon have access to Warner TV, thanks to the deal inked with the mobile operator 3. As known to most of us, Warner TV belongs to the Warner Bros and has an archive with hundreds of episodes of the TV series produced by the US studio.

3’s TV on Demand service would provide access to a host of Warner Bros series including one-hour series The Mentalist, The Closer, Gossip Girl, Fringe, Chuck and Supernatural and sitcoms Two and a Half Men, The Big Bang Theory and Friends.

WarnerTV has for the first time ever launched the branded service on a subscription video-on-demand (SVoD) mobile platform in the UK. Mobix Interactive launched TV on Demand in November 2009, which is now a part of SeaChange International-owned On Demand Group.

On Demand Group believes that SVoD services have led to increased viewing rates, traffic as well as penetration levels. They also believe that a new era in the burgeoning mobile video market has been heralded, thanks to the introduction of SVoD with full-length programming on mobile platforms.

3 Mobile gets hot by adding Nokia X6 to its bag

3 Mobile has got Nokia X6 as the latest Smartphone added to its handset portfolio.

Nokia X6 has got enviable features including a 5 Megapixel camera, built-in Twitter and Facebook applications and the ability for users to access music on the move by downloading 3 Mobile’s Spotify application and thus is no short of an all-round multimedia device.

Thanks to the 3.2 inch touch screen display, the X6 caters very well to the net-savvy users who use mobile internet browsing and makes website browsing crisp and intriguing and easier to navigate. And as is expected from all handsets that 3 Mobile offers, it comes packed with unlimited Skype calls for free, Windows Live Messenger and free access to Twitter at least till the end of March 2010.

3 Mobile believes that their network is built keeping in mind that mobile internet usage is bound to go up and also that the Symbian X6 would be able to woo and wow the customers with a great mobile internet experience.

After 3 Mobile unveiled the HTC Desire last month, this is one other launch which looks very interesting.

Will 3 be the next one on the block?

Now that T-Mobile and Orange have got married (read merged), Is 3 going to be the next one on the block? I don’t say that and it’s rather the industry experts who believe that O2 and Vodafone could be looking out to pick Hutchison Whampoa’s 3.

Keeping in view the fact that 3 has got a market share of 8 % in the UK, Vodafone and O2 both could be eyeing 3. This is fuelled by the fact that O2 has moved to second position and Vodafone humiliated to third place after the T-Mobile and Orange merger.

In all likelihood, Vodafone as well as O2 might have entered bids for T-mobile; however, the fact that their UK businesses are worth more than T-mobile’s was probably the reason for them to have opted out from 50:50 merger with T-mobile.

The merger will be great news for the industry if we are to believe some observers. Given the massive gap in the market share, O2 and Vodafone would surely target 3 so as to narrow down the gap. And for Hutchison Whampoa who owns 3, it is a ringing bell for a strategic exit from the UK.

As O2 and Vodafone declined to comment, and Hutchison Whampoa was unavailable.

A new era in mobile advertising dawns

GSMA Mobile Media Metrics (MMM) was successfully launched in the UK on 4 Feb 2010 by the GSM association and comScore, a leading internet market research company, in collaboration with UK mobile service providers O2, Orange, Vodafone, Orange, T-Mobile and 3.

GSMA Mobile Media Metrics (MMM) is a powerful tool for measuring and reporting mobile internet data for understanding consumer behaviour to track the effectiveness and potential of mobile as a platform for marketing and media.

Reported data is anonymised and includes information such as unique visitors to websites, pages viewed, time spent and distribution of users between smart and non-smart phones.

Getting exact end user behaviour data in the mobile space has never been taken up on such a large scale. Having exact figures would help potential advertisers understand the new market and use mobile advertising as a serious marketing avenue.

Internet usage on mobile phones is growing rapidly, GSMA reported that in the UK, in December 2009 only, 16 million users accessed the internet from their mobile phones, 6.7 billion pages were viewed and a total of 4.8 billion minutes were spent online.

Mobile advertising has been picking up since 2008 when the iPhone was introduced, but 2010 seems to be the year it will take off.
