Amazon fuels Motorola Droid Bionic talk
Jul 23rd, 2011 by Dipak Sarda

Amazon

Amazon Inc. leaked few more pictures of Motorola Droid Bionic which indicates that the handset will soon be available for the grabs to purchase on its website.

It was in January that the Droid Bionic was introduced at the CES (Consumer Electronics Show). The handset is expected to hit the UK market in August which can also be anticipated from the pictures released on its official website.

Powered by a 1GHz Nvidia Tegra 2 Dual Core processor, Bionic was being touted as Moto’s best performing Smartphone so far. It also features a desktop as well as a vehicle navigation dock, 3 USB ports along with one HDMI port.

The Smartphone boasts of an 8 megapixel camera coupled with a VGA front facing camera used for video conferencing, 512 MB RAM , 16GB internal memory and a 4.3-inch qHD (quarter-high-definition) screen.

It is expected that the smartphone will get Android 2.3 Gingerbread update before its launch which was earlier said to come with Google’s Android OS 2.2. Another notable reason could be that the handset sounds very much like Motorola Atrix 4G which features the same Android 2.2 and a qHD screen.

Motorola however is trying to keep its cards closer to its chest as it claims the Droid Bionic to be the best 4G LTE device in the market.

Motorola did it earlier and they have done it again to the Droid users. The users of the Motorola Droid were enthused about the Android 2.1 update being on the way. But the update has been put on hold driving the users anxious.

It was a post by Motorola on its official Facebook page that mentioned the release if the Android 2.1 update for the Droid to arrive on February 12.

Some Droid users are reported to have received the Android 2.1 update on their Droid mobile phones on a test basis from Verizon. The broader rollout is expected to happen later on as per these reports. Screenshots pasted by Verizon employees on various blogs confirmed the news that the phased rollout of the Android 2.1 update is finally on its way and the users can rejoice.

Verizon is being diplomatic in saying that the update is very much being done albeit on a test basis on some handsets and that the actual rollout would follow soon. How soon is what we need to watch out.

Moto Droid HTC Droid

Now it is time for users of both the Droids Motorola Droid and HTC Droid ERIS to be excited, as Android 2.1 is all set to hit their phones.

Motorola and HTC have made Android 2.1 available for download to their users, with a tag of “download at owner’s risk”, which hints this to be a leaked version and not an official one.

This upgrade is a one way, which means once the release becomes official and the user has upgraded, there are very slim chances of reversing the upgrade done. This upgrade is in the final stages of release and is expected to be no different from the official final version but one has to wait for some more time for it to be declared as the official version, which can be done any time from now.

Despite the official declaration pending, it is no shorter than exciting news for Motorola Droid and HTC Droid ERIS users to upgrade from their current versions.
