Gingerbread update for Samsung Galaxy S over T-Mobile
Jul 15th, 2011 by Dipak Sarda

Better late than never, but this is really late. Finally Gingerbread update for Samsung Galaxy S has arrived for T-Mobile users across UK.

Samsung has released this update for Galaxy S, somewhere about May, which itself was pretty late. T-Mobile has taken this delay to next level by delaying it for three more months. Meanwhile other operators like Vodafone have provided this update by May itself.

So finally Samsung Galaxy S users through T-Mobile operator have started getting message to update their Smartphones from Android 2.2 (Froyo) to latest version of Android 2.3 (which is more popularly known as Gingerbread).

Though users already started getting messages, the operator has made it official now. Unfortunately T-Mobile sources or website provided no additional information apart from news about availability of the upgrade. There was a widespread criticism across market about the delay and kind of support Samsung or T-Mobile are providing to Galaxy S users. It is the same story repeated again. There was a considerable amount of delay for Froyo update too.

Vodafone logo Samsung Galaxy

It is time to rejoice for all the Samsung Galaxy S owners as the rollout of Gingerbread ( Android 2.3 ) has been confirmed for users in the UK. However the catch is that your service provider should be Vodafone as it is the only network which confirmed the Galaxy S 2.3 update till date.

Let’s take a sneak peek at what’s in store though you might not be on Vodafone. To us, it seems that a lot of performance issues might get fixed with the updates.

The UI will turn slicker and simpler, while the new Android keyboard will help with ease of copy/paste functionality. There would be better management of power and multiple cameras too. You can switch the handset back to GSM only (2G) mode with this update.

But, hold on because it is not enough to keep waiting for your phone to get updated; it would rather be a better idea to connect it to Samsung KIES on the computer to check the eligibility.

So, we need to wait and assess the Samsung Galaxy S2 as it promises faster response. better battery life, ease of typing and the like.

This would mean that an eye on the Samsung facebook would be a real opener to the news!

Samsung Galaxy Froyo

Samsung Galaxy S, the path-breaking device for Samsung gets Froyo at last. Galaxy S is the best selling Android based Smartphone from Samsung. Five million users will now get the latest Android OS after Samsung launched the handset with Android 2.1 after its launch. The update is being pushed via its Kies software upgrade program.

The most important feature from the update is Adobe Flash player which has got a million downloads to its credit in the Android space. Samsung also noted turn by turn navigation and other improvements to Google Maps apart from Search related updates.

Samsung Galaxy is similar to iPhone 3G in looks in the European market and that is one of the primary reasons apart from Android platform for the success the handset achieved so far in the Smartphone segment. Jul 25th, 2010 by Andy Miles

With this marketing campaign, samsungukmobile has successfully raised its number of followers from less than 100 to more than 2800 in just 48 hours.

Although it is an unconventional way of marketing Galaxy S and sounds more or less like a scam, this complete story has been considered as genuine. Samsung is also targetting the social networking website Facebook so as to go ahead with its marketing campaign of Galaxy S.

Samsung stated that it will be offering a free Galaxy S to a cross section of individuals as a replacement. By this, people will get to lay their hands on the smartphone and play with it which will add on to the Galaxy S sales.

However, it is an interesting method of marketing the Galaxy S which runs the Android 2.1 OS and boasts a large 4-inch AMOLED display.
